Nuff Gal

Why is it that in my Caribbean community there seems to be a lot of men in relationships with more than one woman? Is it something that we’re born with or are we just greedy? Think about it.

From the beginning of time, men have had relationships with multiple women, e.g. Samson, King Solomon, the Great Noah albeit in Noah’s case his wife gave him a concubine. Nonetheless, all of these great men were men of God.

Speaking for myself, I was one of those men – a juggler of many relationships.  One woman wouldn’t do. In my twenties the motto was if the attraction was mutual then we had to get it on.

I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in a single-parent home (my mom raised me) or if I was just innately a womanizer.

My younger brothers on the other hand, who grew up in a two-parent home, were the opposite.  My father and their mother raised them. They favored monogamous relationships, which made me laugh.  I’d ask if they were crazy.

Could their upbringing be the primary reason why they favored monogamy? What do you think is the reason many men tend to have multiple relationships? – MP

Caribbean Pride Overload???

In Caribbean American interest, Caribbean interest on September 10, 2008 at 2:39 am

I’m all for Caribbean pride but this is a tad much. I mean really, must we go all Tarzan on the parkway? Is this really necessary? I think not. There is like an itsy bitsy strip of cloth covering this young woman’s boobies and dollhouse, leaving very little else to the imagination. Not to mention, the design is tasteless and boring. ZZZZZZZZZZZ. It lacks inspiration, not to mention more plumage. Maybe I’m a prude. Maybe I lack Caribbean pride. I mean I simply don’t get it. This is a WTF photo? Clearly. Gosh, I have lots of questions, most importantly does this 22-year-old child have parents/friends/people who care? And why oh why aren’t there more male parade participants dresssed like this? - MJ

W.I. News Roundup

In Caribbean news on September 10, 2008 at 2:28 am

There’s a lot of crazy ish happening in the Caribbean. I trolled the West Indian Times for the latest news and much of what I found was depressing.  A succession of hurricanes are pounding the region. Bahamas and Haiti have taken quite the beating. Hurricane season doesn’t officially end until November.  Eek!  A police officer fatally shot a pastor in Trinidad and Tobago. The headline read “Police Kills Pastor in Love Triangle Gone Wrong”.  The pastor was sitting in the front seat of a parked car with the police officer’s girlfriend.  She was also a cop.  It’s unclear whether the woman was wounded in the shooting.  Scooting over to St. Lucia…nurses there walked off their job for several hours after an armed man attacked them. The staff felt nothing was done to tighten hospital security. I can’t say I blame them.  I would have high tailed outta there too.  Jamaica wants to dole out some $4.5 million U.S. dollars to keep American Airlines from cutting flights to the country. Yup, it’s all sun shine news in the West Indies.  – MJ
