The Brits & the Bronze Woman

The Brits recently unveiled its Bronze Woman statue as a salute to Caribbean women. Guyanese poet Cecile Nobrega’s “Bronze Woman”, a poetic tribute to black mothers written several decades ago, inspired the artwork. The unveiling is to be a big to-do in England. The statue took some 10 years to come to fruition, making the gesture even more symbolic.  Here’s the BBC report and a short video from Blip TV.
